About Us

The Facilities Management Group (Pty) Ltd has unparalleled experience in advising on and implementing the outsourcing of property administration, either by use of its own comprehensive resources or by competitive sealed bid tender. The company is large enough and has sufficient resources to ensure that there is no conflict of interests within its trading divisions. All tendering processes are transparent, with client participation and decision making at key stages

The Facilities Management Group (Pty) Ltd has been trading in Botswana for over 19 years, employs over 1000 personnel and has an annual turnover in excess of P32m. The company is the market leader in the provision of comprehensive facilities management with its three trading divisions of:

  • Shield Security
  • FMG Management

FMG is a customer focused company dedicated to meeting and exceeding customer expectations through the operation of internationally accepted standards for its relevant trading divisions. It is the company's policy to continually improve its procedures and techniques so as to deliver services on time and of the highest quality, thereby achieving either first or second position.

PRESS RELEASE

FMG makes money from unglamorous yet essential services such as cleaning floors, guarding buildings and mending leaks. Clients range from the University of Botswana and First National Bank to households. It has many contracts with government given the government drive to save costs by outsourcing.

Although some belt-tightening is inevitable in the current financial climate, front-line and non-discretionary services under long-term deals are unlikely to be cancelled.

FMG does not have to win new clients to expand because it is successfully cross-selling of bundled services into its existing customer base.

Laws to fine companies that do not comply with regulations in Health and Safety and employment of illegal immigrants are becoming the norm, so there should be an acceleration in the shift towards larger suppliers with more transparent corporate governance procedures

The company has investigated various mechanisms to allow for the empowerment of its Batswana workers. After discussions with PEO and CEDA Venture the chosen means has been the formation of an independent company: Yedu Services. Yedu Services has only Batswana shareholders and directors who are selected from managers, supervisors and workers who have over 5 years service with FMG. In contracts where the client wishes 100% citizen ownership then Yedu Services tenders for signs and holds the contracts and enters into a management agreement with FMG, which then provides the physical and financial resources to manage the contracts at a fee as determined by the directors of Yedu Services. Profit is retained by Yedu Services and distributed as an annual dividend as determined by its directors.
